Demonstration in Heiligendamm Banned

The Higher Administrative Court of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany has
confirmed an assembly ban for Heiligendamm.
This prevents the G8 opponent’s planned ‘star march’ near the conference ho
tel
where the summit will take place.
The Higher Administrative Court’s decision is not open to appeal.

Journalists Barred from Summit.
Russian Style Censorship in Germany?

The German Federal Government has blocked access to the upcoming G8 summit
to
several journalists, including the editor of the German national newspaper
‘Die
Tageszeitung’(or taz’).
This was the recommendation of the Bundeskriminalamt (Federal Office of Criminal
Investigation). It is believed he has been refused a pass because he as the
main
G8 reporter has interviewed some opponents of the G8 and reported on raids
against such activists.
